1. What is set before you choose
Only one thing: the record of your cookie decision itself, stored in your browser's local storage under esk-consent-v1. Nothing is read from your device for analytics or advertising until you have actively agreed.
Closing the banner without choosing counts as a refusal, and so does clicking the ✕. Continuing to browse is not consent.
2. The categories
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| esk-consent-v1 | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie decision and the policy version it was given against | 12 months (local storage) |
| PHPSESSID | Strictly necessary | Only set if a server session is needed to process a form submission; not used for tracking | Session |
No analytics or advertising cookies are currently in use. The consent controls for those categories are in place and functioning, and the site is built so that Microsoft Advertising's UET tag can be switched on later. Until a tag is actually configured, choosing “Accept all” still results in no analytics or advertising cookie being set. When that changes, this table will list each cookie by name, purpose and duration before the tag goes live.
3. Microsoft Consent Mode v2
This site implements Microsoft Consent Mode v2. Consent signals for ad_storage and analytics_storage are set to denied before any tag can load, and are updated only when you make a choice. If you refuse, Microsoft receives a denied signal and no advertising identifier is stored on your device.
4. Changing or withdrawing your choice
You can at any time — the banner reopens with your current settings. You can also clear this site's data in your browser, which removes the stored decision and causes the banner to appear again on your next visit.
Blocking strictly necessary storage in your browser will not break the site, but you will be asked for your cookie choice on every visit, because there is nowhere to record the answer.
5. More detail
How we handle personal data generally, including the hashed IP address used to rate-limit the forms, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
